President Travis Green Touts Student Assembly Accomplishments, Sets Agenda for Spring Term

In a written statement, President Travis Green reviewed Student Assembly's accomplishments for the year, and laid out his plan for the coming term. "We are extremely excited about the spring," said SA spokesman David Imamura, "after two productive terms, SA intends to go out with a bang."

President Green cited increased social services, including DA$H in heavily frequented vending machines, and new Green Print stations as important accomplishments of his administration. Many long term projects that had been held up in the past also came to fruition, with SA making book lists available before the beginning of term on its website, the redesign of the course guide, and the posting of syllabi online. In addition, Green pointed to SA's hosting of alternative space parties on campus in Cutter-Shabbaz and the Mr. & Mrs. Big Green Competition as an accomplishment of particular note.

Green proceeded to outline his vision for Student Assembly for the coming term. Citing ongoing conflicts with the administration over cable boxes and housing, Green promised that SA would continue negotiations to make these policies fairer for students. Green also pledged to pursue new student services, including a shuttle to A-lot, an events calendar, and a renovation of Novack. Of particular note, President Green stated his intention to have additional alternative space parties. Said SA spokesman David Imamura: "Student Assembly is committed to making campus aware that there are social options off frat row. We will continue to attempt to improve social life on campus for all students."

WRITTEN STATEMENT

In six months, Student Assembly has accomplished much. From online syllabi for all classes to alternative space parties at Cutter-Shabazz, Ian and I are proud of the work that Student Assembly has done. We are extremely pleased with the great strides SA has made in student services. After years of negotiations with the administration, we are finally putting DA$H in vending machines on campus. We have new green print stations in the Hyphen and the Hop. Student Assembly has a new website, completely redesigned, with partial book lists available to students before the beginning of term. After lengthy discussions with the faculty, we have convinced over twenty departments to put up course syllabi on the web. Meanwhile, at long last, we have redesigned the course guide.

Besides the academic, SA has done incredible things socially for the campus. We hosted SA's first alternative space dance party in Cutter-Shabbaz in the winter. Meanwhile, PANGEA events have gone extremely well, as we try to bring campus together. The Mr. & Mrs. Big Green Competition was one of the most succesful events of the year.

Still, there is work to be done. This term, Student Assembly will continue to host alternative space parties. We will attempt to put in place a shuttle to A-lot. SA will attempt to convince the administration to renovate Novack. In addition, we will attempt to put in place an events calendar for all of the Student Body. Most importantly, we will continue negotiations with the administration on allocation of housing, and cable TV Boxes. Student Assembly will work towards the day when every student can have a fairly priced cable box, and all students can have a fair shake at housing.

In short, Student Assembly will have a strong finish this spring. Now let's get to work!
