Dartmouth Brass Society
General Info
Mission:
To promote the appreciation of brass music for its members and for the Dartmouth community.
About:
Founded in 2001, the Dartmouth Brass Society is a student-run organization composed solely of brass instrumentalists. The DBS is a very flexible organization. It sometimes performs as a whole, but it also sometimes consists of several different groups that rehearse and perform separately (i.e. brass quintet, trombone quartet, french horn choir, etc.). Certain groups may receive professional coaching in conjunction with the Music Department's for-credit chamber music program. The DBS has often played original compositions by Dartmouth students and often collaborates with the Dartmouth Chamber Orchestra. Its performances always feature a variety of works, ranging from baroque to contemporary music -- pieces that are always chosen by the members themselves.
